Karen Karen

Karen Karen is an artist working primarily with sculpture; producing studio-based artworks, installations and exterior sited art. A selection of recent sculptures are featured here, with more in progress.

Process-wise, in addition to building on past experience with woodwork, fabrication, assemblage and installation, the traditional processes of thatching, clay-modelling and casting have recently been investigated. To advance possibilities for outdoor work, Karen has more recently been studying welding and a second workshop is now set up and in use for metalwork nearby.

Her methodology combines instinctive, abstract and conceptual approaches, often incorporating additional layers referencing site or context. For more background information visit the about page.

With a small workshop initially at home, Karen has been using her garden as an extended studio for sculptural ‘sketching’ for installations and for developing interactive or ‘kinetic’ works. The home studio and garden are open to visit by arrangement. Please visit the contact page to enquire for address and directions.
